Hyundai Sonata vs. Honda Accord

The Hyundai Sonata compares favorably to the Honda Accord when it comes to performance, features and price.  Both cars have a similar style and offer the features such as traction control and antilock breaks that make them ideal for both city and commuter driving.  Both handle well when it comes to maneuvering into tight spaces, with the Hyundai Sonata having a slight edge over the Honda Accord.  The main differences between these two vehicles are in acceleration, front seat room, warranty and price.

When it comes to acceleration, the Hyundai Sonata has more power than the Honda Accord.  The torque is more powerful in the Hyundai car than in the Honda, allowing the car to accelerate quicker than the rival Accord.  In a side by side comparison, the Sonata would beat the Accord starting out from a light.

Both the Hyundai Sonata and Honda Accord get roughly the same amount of gas mileage, which is around 27 miles to the gallon in highway driving, less in city driving.  They both stack up equally when it comes to saving money on gas.

Regarding room, while there is no difference for passengers in the back seats of the Sonata and Accord when it comes to comfort, the Sonata does have an edge over the Accord when it comes to front seat room.  There is more head and leg room in the front seat of the Sonata than the Accord, making it more comfortable for the driver.

The basic warranty given by Hyundai for the Sonata beats that given by Honda for the Accord in that it covers more parts and service.  Both cars have an extended warranty available.

When it comes to price, the Hyundai Sonata is by far less expensive than the Honda Accord by abut $2,000.  There are several different models of each of these cars, ranging from the standard engine to the V6, as well as transmissions.  The difference after the extras have been included in the cars can be substantial with the Honda model being about $10,000 more than the Sonata, after all the bells and whistles have been included.

Both the Hyundai Sonata and the Honda Accord are good family sedans that feature reliability, fine performance and a proven safety record.  Both are stylish automobiles that offer modern conveniences such as DVD players and navigation systems as extras.  The Hyundai Sonata has the same features as the Honda Accord, has more room in the front, more torque power, a better warranty and is priced much cheaper than the Honda Accord.
